NIL Go is an online platform created by the College Sports Commission to evaluate whether third-party NIL deals with a student-athlete’s NIL has a valid business purpose and does not exceed a reasonable range of compensation.
- All D1 student-athletes must report third-party NIL deals with compensation of $600 or above

What
Student-athletes must report any third-party Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals with compensation of $600 or above
When
New deals must be reported within five (5) business days of execution of NIL contract or otherwise agreement to the contract or payment terms
Why
Student-athletes must submit written documentation of deal terms to NIL Go, or the penalty for failure to report an NIL deal is ineligibility for the student-athlete. [NCAA Bylaw 22.2.2.2]
You must report your deal if
- You are being compensated for your Name, Image and Likeness (NIL)
- By a third-party (an individual or entity other than your school)
- Your compensation equals or exceeds $600 in the aggregate (in the aggregate means you have deals with the same individual or entity over multiple contracts that total $600 or more)
Compensation Includes:
- Direct payments
- Other benefits such as free car leases, gym memberships, etc

NIL GO is an online platform created by the College Sports Commission to evaluate whether third-party NIL deals with a student-athlete’s NIL has a valid business purpose and does not exceed a reasonable range of compensation. All D1 student-athletes must report third-party NIL deals with compensation of $600 or above, and this includes $600 or more in the aggregate.
How are NIL deals evaluated?
Student-athlete third-party NIL deals are evaluated based on:
- Associated Status: The relationship(s) between the Deal Sponsor and/or Deal Facilitator and a given institution.
- Valid Business Purpose (VBP): Whether a deal is being made with the purpose of using the student-athlete’s NIL for a valid business purpose related to the promotion or endorsement of goods or services being provided to the general public for profit.
- Range of Compensation (RoC): Whether the compensation paid to the student-athlete is commensurate with compensation paid to similarly situated individuals.
What information do student-athletes need?
In reporting NIL deals, student-athletes will
- Upload a copy of their contract or written agreement documentation
- Enter their compensation & detailed activation obligations
- Provide the name and contact details of the Deal Sponsor, and Deal Facilitator (if applicable)
UC Davis will confirm Deal Sponsor and Deal Facilitator (if applicable) association with UC Davis – “Associated” or “Not Associated”
NOTE: Student-Athletes have access to NIL Go, Deal Sponsors and Deal Facilitators do not have access. UC Davis users will have visibility into all reported student-athlete third-party NIL deals at their school only.
How to support student-athletes?
- Provide student-athletes with contract(s) or written agreement documentation.
- Provide student-athletes with name and contact details for the Deal Sponsor, and Deal Facilitator (if applicable)
- Be accessible to answer questions if student-athletes reach out for information about their agreement terms.
- Respond to NIL Go Attestation Requests in a timely manner.
- Once a student-athlete reports a deal and your organization’s association status with UC Davis, you will be emailed a link to an Attestation Form. If not completed within five (5) business days, the deal will be blocked.
- NIL Go will determine if the deal is cleared, not cleared or flagged for additional review.
- If the deal is flagged for additional review, please be accessible for questions as the deal may need to be revised or and resubmitted.
